The proposed improvements will include eight (8) detention basins that will provide storm water management throughout the project area. The detention basins will provide water quality treatment and store large rain events, releasing them slowly to prevent overland flooding.  The detention basins drastically reduce the peak discharge of the storm sewer system by storing the 100-year storm event in the basin.

Six of the basins will be above-ground dry basins that will be landscaped by a licensed Landscape Architect. The two underground basins will be constructed beneath the Church parking lots at E. Shawnee Ave. and Amherst Street. These basins will be permanently hidden below ground and can only be accessed by the storm sewer manholes.
